My name is Lauren Callaghan and I am a senior at UNC Asheville. This website is designated to complete the Senior Capstone Requirement for the Department of History. I am double majoring in History and Mass Communication. I’ve spent this semester and last working on this project and am very excited to see it all come together. I’d like to thank my parents for all their support and my professors including Dr. Dan Pierce and Dr. Ellen Holmes Pearson for their help and advising. I also want to thank Pat Beaver for her time and contribution to this thesis through the interview. Thanks to Emily Cadmus for the idea for my title. I want to give a huge thank you to Brenan from the Writing Center for coming up with the alliterations in my conclusion and for spending many appointments helping me edit.
